It is the final part of the trilogy that began with Legend of the Condor Heroes and continued in Return of the Condor Heroes. Heavenly Sword and the Dragon Slaying Saber takes place approximately 100 years after the events of Return of the Condor Heroes in China, ruled by the Mongolian Yuan Dynasty.
Legend has it that whoever obtains the Heavenly Sword and the Dragon Slaying Saber can rule the world. Zhang Wuji was orphaned at a young age because of his plan to discover the secrets of these two weapons. Despite his preference to live a non-violent life, Wuji finds himself embroiled in a power struggle and must struggle to protect himself and his loved ones.
